She's the Silbery matriarch that rides motorcycles in leather and leopard print, and this week she's celebrating her 90th birthday.
Emmie Silbery may be a great-grandmother but by no means is she to be underestimated. She's a Gogglebox veteran, entertaining viewers with her cheeky commentary since season three, and she's showing no signs of slowing down.
As she celebrates her birthday with her family, Emmie reveals how she'll be taking on 90.
Pina colada, anyone?
When our birthdays come around, most of us have a few (hundred) items on our wish list, but Emmie Silbery is above that. Mostly. As she says, "I don't have a present wish list as such, but I wouldn't say 'no' to an island paradise getaway with my family." Hint hint, family.
Get the feather boas
Forget high tea - Emmie is celebrating her birthday in style, and she's got her party-planner, Isabelle to arrange it all. "My requests for a party includes strippers, drag queens and flowing cocktails," the great-grandmother says. "But I'll wait to see what’s in store in a few weeks!" Can our invitations also be arranged?
Break the rules
After a lifetime of experiences, Emmie has learned that it's important to have allies in times of need. As she explains, "My favourite Gogglebox moment so far has to be when Kerry said I couldn't have a drink because of my medications but Isabelle snuck some vodka in my glass without her knowing. I love being sneaky, rules are meant to be broken."
Hold onto the things that matter
Money can buy lots of things, but it can't buy love. And Emmie shares a humble reminder that it's not how much we have, but what we have that matters. "At 90, I'm proudest of my wonderful family who I'm so fortunate to be close to," Emmie says. "But I'm also proud of myself, to be this young, healthy and happy."
