Selling Houses Australia

Episode Guide

Erskineville, NSW

Series 6 · Episode 4

12 years ago, Natasha Bayliss was living and working overseas and wanted to get a foot on the ladder of the Sydney property market. She purchased a 2-bedroom terrace in the inner city suburb of Erskineville, sight unseen. Had she seen the property she may never have bought it. Rising damp, crumbling walls, dark pokey rooms and a wreck of a kitchen are just the start of the problems with this terrace. The long-term tenants enjoyed cheap rent and so never complained, and for Natasha it was all ‘out of sight, out of mind’. But now years of neglect have come back to haunt Natasha. She and her husband both lost their jobs in the GFC, they have no income and 2 children to support. To make ends meet they need to sell the Erskineville terrace but buyers are taking one look and running in the other direction.
