Feeding your children should be the simplest part of being a parent but today it’s more fraught with guilt, anxiety and controversy than ever before. For some parents, their child’s extreme eating takes over their lives. The Feeding Clinic at Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the UK is one of the few places in the world to specialise in treating children with extreme eating problems.
Some of their patients include Aaron Rossiter, who is almost four and has never eaten a meal. At home he exists on a diet of eight bottles of baby milk and the odd yoghurt. His diet is that of a five month old baby and his extreme feeding is tearing his family apart. Rachael Scowcroft is 12 and survives on a diet composed entirely of chocolate. Breakfast is cooking chocolate, lunch consists of chocolate fingers and dinner is a plate of chocolate stars. Two year old Bobby Green only eats yoghurt, cereal and chocolate buttons.
