Jono: Love Me, Love My Face

About the Show

About the Show

In this inspiring and heart-warming documentary, we meet Jono Lancaster who was born with Treacher Collins, a rare genetic syndrome which has affected the bone structure of his face. He was given up for adoption at birth and raised in a foster family. Jono's file from social services for the local adoption panel states that his mother "was horrifed by the child's physical appearance and experienced no maternal bonding". As he approaches 25, we see that he has overcome bullying and confidence issues to become a bright, popular and outgoing young man, who has found love with his beautiful girlfriend Laura. But as Jono and Laura contemplate their life together and the possibility of becoming parents themselves, Jono doesn't feel that he can move on without attempting to contact his 'birth' family.

I watched this programme last night. It was so inspiring and it broke my heart too. I really feel for him. Jono is a legend and he is so lucky to have such a wonderful supportive girlfriend there for him and she does not care what anyone says about the way Jono looks. She too has to put up with the media attention. I don't understand why some people can be so mean to a person just because they look different. Jono is a legend and his story is amazing.
