About the Show

This documentary follows teenager Jamie as he makes a bold statement about his transition into adulthood. Growing up in an ex-mining village in County Durham, Jamie has faced his fair share of difficulties after coming out as gay at 14. But, with supportive family and friends around him, Jamie has now decided that he is ready to share with his peers his dreams of becoming a drag queen. Throughout his journey, Jamie must overcome daunting challenges, facing his fears in order to find acceptance. In an effort to embrace his true self Jamie attends his school prom in drag, but the reactions from his peers, and his father, are not as he had hoped. Despite his disappointments Jamie does not lose faith, spending time with an established drag artist, and performing as his own alter ego, Fifi La True. Through intimate and enlightening family moments, Jamie learns just how strong he really is despite his fears for the future. Will he finally get the acceptance he has always dreamed of from his peers, and find the courage to be who he truly is?
