Matty and Sarah Marie welcomed their baby boy two weeks ago, and the new dad reveals his world has already completely changed.
Since welcoming their firstborn, Malik George Fahd just two weeks ago, new parents Sarah Marie and Matty have been overwhelmed with love and support from their Gogglebox community. And in a brief moment of downtime, Matty took to Instagram to share his experience of fatherhood so far.
"Everything has changed. Everything," the new dad tells. "Every worry I had has gone away. I look at him and I know that I’ve got one thing to do and that’s to take care of him and protect him and be there for him. My focus has changed.
"I can’t put the best thing into words. It’s too hard to describe, but when I look into his eyes there is nothing greater. The hardest thing is knowing is that you’re responsible for this little guy," Matty adds.
But aside from the new-parent nerves, it's an outpouring of love that's overtaking. "Besides having a very scruffy beard and lack of sleep, I’m loving every second of it," he tells.
The new parent says that both he and his wife are doing well and enjoying the time as a family of three. "I feel like we’re in a bubble at the moment. Sarah is doing amazingly, she’s in really good spirits. Everything’s happy, we’re loving, we’re laughing, we’re learning, it’s been amazing."
But as all new parents, the lack of sleep is definitely taking its toll... but maybe not on Matty. "I’m actually not that tired, he says. "But ask Sarah... She’s a lot more tired than me. She has to wake up at three in the morning and breastfeed. Me and Bane are doing just fine."
And when asked how their British Bulldog is taking to his new little brother, it seems they've already got a unique bond. "Baney is definitely loving his little bro," Matty reveals. "He’s probably loving him a little too much! He wants to lick the hell out of him, so bit by bit we’re going to get him used to him, get them used to each other. But so far so good."
While the new dad is loving every minute of fatherhood, there is one thing he is not so keen about: "Baby stuff is so expensive. It’s like, ‘Hey, this is a little cute thing the baby lies on. It’s $7000!' Are you kidding?," he laughs.
And when it comes to putting Malik to sleep, he reveals that his two-week old has a more mature taste than his peers. "I play Kanye West’s newest album. It's a great album to play to a kid because it’s all gospel music! Any minute I feel like Malik’s going to rise out of his bed and kick a door down or something," he jokes.
