Gogglebox best bits: Thrills, spills, and thrillers

This week, the Goggleboxers watched a new medical drama, classic thriller film The Sixth Sense, and another thrilling episode of Channel 9’s RBT.

On TV this week was Channel 7’s new medical drama, The Good Doctor – a show critics have said is an authentic window view into autism. The show is already a hit in the States – and despite the first episode being a little gory, the Goggleboxers agree the show could be a new drama favourite in weeks to come.

Also on the squeamish, scary side was the classic super-natural horror-thriller movie, The Sixth Sense on Foxtel. Surprisingly, a few Goggleboxers hadn’t seen the movie with the greatest twist of all time. The best part: Googling what Haley Joel Osment looks like today (see hit comedy Silicon Valley for reference).

Salmon jacket

First up is First Dates, the show that plays Tinder and pairs up mix-matched strangers for a date with pretty strange and/or hilarious results. Sadly enough, no one ever seems to progress to a second date.

This week, Josh seems to be confused about the colour of his jacket. He's definitely placing the wrong emphasis on the wrong syllable when it comes to saying 'salmon' - and honestly, it's probably more of a coral red anyway.

Breathalyser fail

Oh, RBT. Why do we enjoy watching our fellow citizens get pulled over and caught out by highway patrolmen so much? This week, we witness a shady looking fellow in Tweed Heads try and use his Facebook profile in place of a driver's license. Pro tip: it didn't work.

Another driver is clearly under the influence, and hands over a bottle of bourbon he's been swigging in the car after a session at the pub. Miraculously, the breathalyser reads 0.00 blood-alcohol, and even the driver is blown away by his sobriety exclaiming, "How can that be?". The policeman resorts to good old-fashioned roadside drunk tests, and thankfully the driver is not allowed to drive on.

Another Aussie vet

On Lifestyle is real-life vet show, Vet on the Hill with Aussie vet Dr. Scott Miller. The Goggleboxers agree it's a little like Bondi Vet, but without the beach, set in the suburbs of London. This week Dr. Scott tends to an aging chihuahua, and Bam Bam - a pup that hates bath time. There's also a bunny with a rather serious underbite who undergoes a little cosmetic dentistry to help him gnaw his lettuce with ease.

Gogglebox is on Lifestyle on Wednesdays at 7.30pm.
