Gogglebox best bits: Drama, drama, drama

In episode three, the Goggleboxers watched drama unfold with design disasters on Project Runway, and a few problematic designated drivers on RBT.

Last week, the Goggleboxers tuned in to The Block to watch competing duos battle it out for the best pool, or plunge pool, or backyard spa.

This week, however, they witnessed 25-year-old flight attendant Jericho win Australian Survivor and an SBS series all about green cooking.

There were questionable housing situations on Housemates – and the families agreed they’d probably prefer to live with the set of polyamorous strippers, then in the hippy commune ‘The Hive’.

As well as this, there was a good sprinkling of reality drama, which – as always – leaves many of us rolling our eyes.

Problematic designated drivers

The Goggleboxers rode shotgun with Channel 9’s police series RBT, a show that rarely disappoints in its endless entertainment value. However, as Tom points out, it might be more than a little horrifying “to see your relos on the show.”

Most problematic (and strange) of all of the randomly tested drivers is a woman who seems to be incapable of actually breathing into the police breathalyser. Turns out – she’s well and truly over the legal limit, and as she is arrested throws in an Oscar-worthy faint for the cameras.

Project Runway

The stakes were high in the design studio for Project Runway – a  long-standing reality series set on discovering fashion’s next big thing.

One contestant has copied another’s peplum dress, and it’s causing quite a few eye rolls among contestants. Turns out the episode’s cheater is best in show for the episode – and another contestant storms backstage leaving supermodel host Heidi Klum and cameramen perplexed.

Despite being mostly disinterested in any of the contestants' ho-hum designs, the Goggleboxers agree the design drama makes the show.

Gogglebox is on Lifestyle on Wednesdays at 7.30pm.
