Gogglebox Australia: Tim opens up about his heartbreaking wedding news

The Goggleboxer was supposed to be married this year.

2020 has been a strange year for a lot of people. On the back of the Coronavorus pandemic, folks around the world have had to put off international travel, meeting loved ones and even skipping their nuptials.

While speaking to LifeStyle, Gogglebox Australia's Tim revealed he and partner Mark have had to put their wedding on hold, too.

"COVID 19 has completely stuffed it up, we had intentions of getting hitched towards the end of this year after season 12," Tim said.

"Growing up as a little gay asian boy - I always wanted the big fancy wedding. And when my partner and I visited New York for the first time years ago, we fell in love with the city," he explained.

"We wanted to get married in our favourite city."

However, according to his sister and couchmate Leanne, "He didn't just want to get married in New York, he had three wedding locations planned."

In between chuckles, a serious Tim, 40, revealed, "That didn't work out so then we were going to get married in Melbourne and have the second wedding in Panang, Malaysia - so the Malaysian contingent could make it, but then that couldn't happen."

Tim says that although he's excited to walk down the aisle and seal the deal, he's aware there are bigger things at play right now.

"We will not be going back to the US, because we have immediate family members - our mum and our brother - who are very at risk with health conditions.

"There is no way we would ever go anywhere where we'd risk their health."

The Gogglebox duo and siblings are both currently living in Melbourne, which has been heavily impacted by the Stage 4 lockdown. They tell LifeStyle that knowing fellow citizens aren't taking the precautionary measures seriously are starting to make them feel furious.

"I get angry when I read about anti-maskers. Fair dinkum, it's not a hoax," added Tim.

"We know the very first Aussie who died from COVID 19. We know it's real, it's not a hoax."

Although the pair like to keep their relationship low-key, when asked if Tim and Mark would consider eloping, the hilarious commentator said it's an impossible scenario for the couple.

"If we eloped, I kid you not we would have a target on our heads. My family and my partner's family would obliterate us!

Although one thing is for sure, Tim as already chosen his best man.

"He promised me that I'm going to be his best man, so that better happen!" added Leanne.

Regardless, Tim is certain that Mark is the man he wishes to grow old with.

"At the end of the day, nothing is going to change. We've been together for 22 years now, it feels like an eternity.

"Just having that piece of paper is not going to mean anything, it's an excuse to have a holiday."
