She's one of Australia's favourite Goggleboxers, but Emmie Silbery is taking a break for Season 12 of the top-rating show, which starts tonight on Foxtel.
The 91-year-old great-grandmother, who normally appears with her daughter, Kerry, and her grand-daughter, Isabelle, will stay isolated at home throughout the COVID-19 lockdown this season.
But Emmie wants all her fans to know that she is fit and well and only staying away as a precaution - just like she did at the end of last season.
"I’ve been missing being on the screen," she reveals from her Melbourne home. "But I'm not going on this season because of the situation."
But Emmie is not too downhearted by the news as it gives her the perfect chance to catch up on writing a book - an autobiography of her very colourful life!
"I’m writing my memoir," she says. "What else does a 91-year-old do? I can’t just become a painter!"
"I’ve also written a letter to a cousin I’ve never met before in the US."
But perhaps her greatest isolation hobby is reading as much as she can!
"I read lots of books," she says. "I’ve got through about 12 books since March. I love it and I get carried away."
"I don't know what's going on in the world, only what’s going on in the book I’m reading. So it's really good."
The much-loved Goggleboxer admits that she is still in daily contact with her family and sees them every day on a video call.
"I’ve been talking to them on the phone, what do you call it? Skyping," she says "I’ve got plenty of things to do!"
Isabelle and Kerry Silbery will join hilarious married couple Lee and Keith, Greek best friends Anastasia and Faye, close-knit family The Daltons and cricket mad Delpechitra family.
We'll also watch art dealers Mick and Di, new parents Matty and Sarah Marie with “uncle” Jad, brother and sister foodies Tim and Leanne, flatmates Milo and Nic, best friends Kaday and Chantel plus the Sydney clan of five, the Elias family.
Watch Gogglebox Australia, Wednesday, LifeStyle, 7.30pm - first on Foxtel.
