Last month we heard that Christopher Meloni's long-time Law & Order SVU character, Elliot Stabler, is getting his very own show.
Fans could not believe that Elliot would be returning to TV for the first time since 2011 when he retired from the force.
The new show will revolve around Stabler as the new head of the NYPD Organised Crime Unit.
Sadly, it seemed very unlikley that he would be reunited with his ex-partner Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay in the new series.
But now, to the amazement of fans, it's been revealed that we will see Elliot Stabler return to his old show, Law & Order SVU in season 22.
On a behind the scenes podcast, showrunner, Warren Leight, revealed that there are plans for Meloni to return for the premiere episode.
"It’s pretty clear that Elliot will be in the SVU season opener. I think that much I know," Leight said.
He added, "Whether we’ll get to see his family as well remains to be seen."
And although this is great news for SVU fans, it's not known when we will see the big reunion of Stabler and Benson.
Due to the Coronavirus crisis, all production has been shut down for the foreseeable future.
Looks like we will patiently have to wait to see Benson and Stable fight crime again together - but at least we know it's definitely happening!
