Learn the secrets behind cultivating a beautiful country garden in your own backyard with leading Aussie landscape designer Paul Bangay.

Country gardens hold a special place in Paul Bangay's heart. 

"Everyone’s experienced small inner city gardens, courtyards or balconies, but being able to have the freedom of scale to be able to design or create large country gardens is an amazing thing and that’s quite rare," he says. "That's why country gardens are so special; you just can't get the same level of freedom or sense of scale with smaller gardens."

Despite Paul's love for a country garden, he admits they're not easy to create in the harsh Australian climate. 

"We can have very long periods of drought and extreme heat, which is not great for any type of garden unless you've got a cactus or gravel garden. But most types of country gardens tend to be softer and enjoy flowers and trees and they’re hard to get going in extreme conditions," he explains.
