From Ross and Rachel to John Snow and Ygritte, here are a few romantic TV moments we wish the Goggleboxers had experienced.
Gogglebox has returned for season 7. Last week, our beloved Goggleboxers had a dose of reality from MKR through to The Project, and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. This week, however, the viewing may be a little on the sweeter side surrounding the year's most romantic of days: Valentine's Day.
To date, the Goggleboxers have watched, discussed, deliberated, reviewed, and reacted to TV romances real and fictional, some downright ridiculous and some completely heartwarming. They've watched online love catastrophe in Catfish, shows predicting Megan and Harry's eventual engagement announcement, and Australia's most awkward (and hilarious) First Dates.
Maybe most special, was witnessing the incredible moment in 2017 when we learned that the vast majority of Australians ticked 'yes' when asked if the legal definition of marriage should be expanded to include same-sex couples. Love wins!
There are so many historic TV couples and earth-shattering romances we wish were captured in a Gogglebox moment. So, in anticipation of Valentine's Day, here is a mixed bag of five of our favourite unforgettable romantic TV moments we wish the Goggleboxers had seen.
Ross and Rachel—the first kiss, the breakups, makeups, and everything in between
This list wouldn't really be complete without Ross and Rachel, possibly TV's most iconic couple. Though there were other great romances on Friends (Phoebe and Mike, for example), Ross and Rachel will always have a place in our hearts.
Niles and CC—the outrageous first kiss scene
They totally hated each other, until they didn't really. A classic, but totally hilarious case of opposites attract.
John Snow and Ygritte—you know nothing, John Snow
Like the rest of us, the Goggleboxers love watching Game of Thrones, and we're sure they won't have missed this game-changing coupling. Just the same, John Snow and Ygritte's romance, which turned into a real-life romance, can't go unmentioned.
Scott and Charlene—The wedding
For Kylie, for the mullet hair-dos, and the babies breath bouquet.
Will and Grace—for celebrating great friendships on Valentine's Day
While not romantic—Will and Grace's friendship on Will and Grace lasted through the seasons, through fights, bad relationships, highs and lows. As BFFs, they loved each other more than they ever did their romantic partners, which surely counts on a day that's really, all about love.
