The humble New Zealand Blackcurrant has now been elevated to ‘Superfood’ status with compounds within the fruit proven to increase mental performance indicators, such as accuracy, attention and mood. The study also showed that juice from a specific New Zealand blackcurrant cultivar, ‘Blackadder’, also reduced the activity of a family of enzymes called monoamine oxidases, which regulate serotonin and dopamine concentrations in the brain. These chemicals are known to affect mood and cognition, and are the focus for treatments of both neurodegenerative symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease and mood disorders, including stress and anxiety.
For a delicious and easy daily dose of locally grown New Zealand Blackcurrants try Barker’s Squeezed New Zealand Blackcurrants which contains over 750 locally grown Canterbury blackcurrants or the lighter version Barker’s Lite Squeezed Blackcurrant syrup which contains natural sweetener stevia.
really enjoyable for the whole family :)
Received a beautifully boxed item that I would think would be great for a gift idea for someone that has everything. The product itself was really really nice. I am never really a fan of the word LITE but it was surprisingly really good. I did get the family to try so that it wasn't just me and they all enjoyed and that was teenagers. Would actually think of purchasing myself.
We tried both these products hot and cold.
The hot Lemon, Honey and Ginger was delicious, and with only a hint of ginger it wasn't an overpowering flavour. It tasted great cold too, so definitely an 'any season' drink.
The Lite Blackcurrant was not as sweet as some brands available, which made it much more palatable for my family. Great products to cover that chemical taste of Brisbane water.
The taste is sensational and very rich in flavor. I loved both products. Yummy
