What a wonderful product to try and rate. YUM. Every product was natural, tasted like home made jams and relishes and you tell they have no preservatives.
Favourites were the lemon curd and the Lemon Honey and Ginger drink closely followed by the Sweet chilli Relish. And to top it off the containers are reusable.
Will def be buying these products on a regular basis.
Overall I was quite impressed at the quality and taste of these products and tried them in as many ways as possible to find their better pairing but all tasted soooo good. Each has been detailed below :
Barker's Ginger, Honey and Lemon Fruit Syrup - very refreshing over chilled soda water or plain cold water and quite warming to sip hot in place of tea during these winter months. Sweet with a nice mellow lemon tang and a nice hint of heat from the ginger
Barker's Blackcurrant Fruit Syrup - The kids favourite. Juicy flavour and gorgeous deep magenta purple, this is quite sweet but can be diluted to your liking same as a cordial. Nice fresh fruit taste
Anathoth Lemon Curd - Rich, tangy and has a really nice texture to it from the lemon zest. Great on toast or fresh crusty bread, but this makes a great cheats lemon cheesecake (just mix with cream cheese) or lemon coconut slice. Both were devoured within seconds and friends have purchased the product from Coles for their creations
Anathoth Boysenberry Jam - Fruity and full of beautiful fresh flavour. It has a really nice aroma and matches perfectly with a fresh made scone and dollop cream. The jam is nicely textured and also makes a amazing boysenberry coconut slice
Anathoth Three Berry Jam - Slightly sweeter than the Boysenberry Jam, but still very flavourful and BIG thumbs up from our jam sanger eater.
Anathoth Rhubarb & Red Berry Jam - Rhubarb is not my favourite and I did not like the stewed texture. My rhubarb fans all raved about the delicate taste and how it was boosted by the red berry flavours. One tester suggested that rhubarb and berries need to be cooked less, be a bit chunkier and sold as a fruit compot instead of jam
Anathoth Sweet Chilli Relish - I have used this on sausage rolls, pies, sandwiches, dips, cold meats, breads and cheeses. It is quite mild and leaves a nice zing on your tongue but I could use more of a kick. This also has a creamy taste and great rough texture (not smooth but has nice bits)
Anathoth Tomato Relish - Like a good wine, this relish needs to breathe after removing the lid. The odour is strong initially, but dissipates quickly and you are left with a tasty, vinegary but creamy relish. It complimented my fresh corned meat sandwiches quite nicely and pairs with cold meats or vintage cheese very well
Wow wow wow! These jams and relishes are fabulous and I will certainly buy them in future. The lemon curd was the first to be emptied and it was better than my homemade. The jams were delicious with some great flavours. I am also loving the black currant syrup is very refreshing and goes a long way. My only disappointment was the way that these products were packaged, one of my jams and the bottle of lemon honey and ginger syrup arrived broken creating a very sticky mess.
