Had a very enjoyable lunch at The Buena Vista Hotel. Excellent venue and fabulous atmosphere.
Food was good value and the bistro is child friendly.
Recommend a visit.
Took a friend - lift to upstairs dining area - really buzzing - noisy, laughter, children, busy - all good signs of a great venue. We were welcomed and treated like VIPs! Good variety on menu though I thought menu prices were a bit steep for pub food! Daily specials a good idea and we may try those another time. Our garlic loaf was a bit tough and hard to get into though cute looking! I had the crab linguine - excellent flavour but not quite sure about the slice of toasted sour dough as there really was no sauce to mop up. Friend had the slow cooked pork ribs - HUGE meal - she could not finish it and she has a big appetite. Pork was tender and flavoursome but sauce for her was a little too spicy (she's a bit wimpy here with sauces so don't take this to heart!) Desserts were fantastic - Belgian Waffles - way too big a serve (halve the size, add some fruit and same serve ice cream would have been perfect) but the pavlova with summer fruits was to die for! Service was excellent though ribs should have had a finger bowl served with them - we had to ask and it was a little enamel bowl rather than china - not a big deal but ... Music was way too loud for the Thurs night and we left early as we could not hear ourselves talk, Ladies bathroom was very up market with new technology for water, toilet roll holder was a brilliant idea (you have to go to see it!) Manager was attentive, good staff service.
We had lunch at the restaurant. It has a wide range of foods on the menu, with lunch specials to high end dining. We had the fish tacos (set of 3) and the salt & pepper calamari to start. The calamari was tender, lightly flavoured, with a pickled fennel accompaniment. The crumbs did not fall of it and it was not too oily (5 stars). The fish tacos were refreshing, smoky flavoured, with a tangy salad. The mains of kingfish and tenderloin steak very both excellent dishes. The 4 stars if for the overall cost. The drinks cost a bit too much - a glass of chardonnay and a beer cost almost $30. Out total cost for 2 courses plus 2 drinks was $120. Whilst the food was very good, the prices are on the high side for a bistro, hence 4 stars overall rating. The food was definitely 5 stars, no question about the food quality.
