Hollywood’s dream team Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper reunite in Serena, coming to Cinemas November 27. Based on the best-selling novel by Ron Rash, Serena is a riveting tale that mixes passionate love, tragedy, drama and tension against a historic backdrop. Set in the North Carolina mountains at the end of the 1920s - George and Serena Pemberton, love-struck newly-weds, begin to build a timber empire and Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. However, once Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pemberton’s passionate marriage begins to unravel, which leads toward a dramatic reckoning.

I'm a bit mixed about this review. It is worth a watch if your are into intense and dramatic movies set in an olden day era. I didn't dislike this movie but I didn't absolutely love it either.
Great fantastic film with brilliant actors. However the plot seemed a touch weak and took a long time to develop into a storyline but once I understood what was happening with the relationships, I enjoyed it. Beautiful chemistry between the cast and was very historical as it mixed history and drama together for a 21st Century audience. The love both George and Serena share is heartwarming and engaging. Pleasant film to watch with your partner or alone.
I had read mixed reviews on this movie and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It held my attention all the way through and was not a soppy romance which I was expecting. Jennifer Lawrence did a great job portraying the part of Serena, and Bradley Cooper also played his part well. In saying that though, if you are after action this may not be the movie for you. There are a couple of "wow" moments but very few. It was slow and gradual all the way with no exciting lead up to the final scenes. I didn't feel there was a strong storyline and it seemed to lack purpose. A dramatic end promised, but it just didn't quite deliver.
Having not read the book, I had no pre conceived ideas as to the storyline of this movie. Serena is a beautiful, confident socialite who we know is going to take us on a rocky journey. George seems to be a focused business man coping with the rigours of a tough life in the mountains. A marriage made in heaven, we are led to believe, but money issues together with a psychopathic wife leads George on a journey, where we hope he will eventually choose to do the right thing. I really enjoyed this movie, the scenery was beautiful, but the connection between Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper was lacking in a way that I just cannot define.
