Diablo Cody, the Oscar winning Writer of Juno, is back with another unique take on the world in this hilarious tale of innocence lost and paradise found, starring Julianne Hough (Safe Haven), Octavia Spencer (Academy Award Winner The Help) and Russell Brand (Get Him to the Greek). After a near fatal accident, 21-year-old Lamb Mannerheim (Hough) is beginning to realise that the world is much bigger than her small, God-fearing Montana town. Armed with a big, fat insurance payout and a checklist of untried sins, there's only one place for her first taste of temptation... Las Vegas!
Diablo Cody has once again produced a wonderful film which has a sense of reality. You feel for Lamb and her understandable sense of betrayal that god would have let this happen and her desire to break free from her old self. One would hope that someone would actually choose a better town than Vegas, but that would not have made such a heart-warming and funny story. This is not necessarily a film for the boys, but is certainly a lovely tale, well portrayed by all those involved. Julianne Hough was fantastic as Lamb, Octavia Spencer was brilliant as the 'token African American', and it was nice to see a softer side of Russell Brand.
It was a little slow to start but all up a feel good movie I would give it a 6/10
I quite enjoyed this movie but really wanted more! The story was surprising and sweet but it was a very short movie and would have been better with more storyline.
