Oscar(R) winner Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables) stars as Franny in this romantic drama set against the backdrop of Brooklyn's vibrant modern-folk music scene.
When Franny's musician brother Henry (Ben Rosenfield, Boardwalk Empire) suffers an accident that leaves him comatose, Franny returns home after a long estrangement and begins to use his notebook as a guide to how his life has evolved in her absence.
She begins to seek out the musicians he loved, and meets James Forester (Johnny Flynn, Clouds of Sils Maria), Henry’s musical idol, whose success and fame belie a shy and private man. As a strong romantic connection develops between Franny and James, the question becomes - can love bloom under the most adverse circumstances?
With terrific performances and an original soundtrack composed by Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, Song One is a heartfelt story of two souls sharing a tender journey.
Anne Hathaway has been a favourite of mine for years and she doesn't disappoint in this life defining movie. As her character Franny, she has been removed from her family for some time and uses her brother's journal to reconnect with him and herself. In the process she meets her brother's idol and falls in love, in turn helping James come to terms with who he is and both end up being the better for it.
Keep a tissue or two handy, you may need them in parts. Overall, this is a lovely film about soul searching and finding things in the most unlikely of places.
Loved the movie very moving and the strong bond between family's is remarkable when the need arises, and how they come together as one, the love between brother and sister is beautiful, well worth to watch.
A heartwarming story of love, hope and healing through music
This movie is a romance brought about through tragedy. Whilst I enjoyed the journey and the music I thought the story ended just when it started to become interesting.
Good TV movie for a rainy afternoon, not too hard on the old brain cells.
Nice enough story about a family that reconnects after a tragedy and a little romance thrown in.
The music is definitely the highlight here. Johnny Flynn's vocals are enough to carry the movie to the end.
Wouldn't have paid to see this at the movies.
Great movie and great soundtrack, worth watching. Anne hathaway's acting is fantastic.
Boring, boring, boring, fast forwarded most of this movie. Lots of music that all sounds the same and staring off into space. Definitely do not recommend you watch this.
