This year’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festivities are well under way, and the legendary parade is just around the corner.
With the streets of Sydney about to transform with a dazzling spectacle of sparkles and self-expression, here’s your ultimate guide to one of the world’s biggest pride events.
Mardi Gras Parade
Oxford & Flinders Streets
7.00pm - 11.30pm, March 4
A captivating explosion of colour and glitter takes over the centre of Sydney as the community comes together in support of equality and acceptance. Expect over three hours of vibrant costumes and fabulous floats, and best of all - it’s free!
Official Mardi Gras Party
Playbill Venues and Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park
10pm - 8am, March 4
Billed as one of the world’s biggest LGBTQI celebrations, over 12,000 partygoers will gather after the Parade to party the night away. Aussie favourites The Veronicas and indie icons Tegan and Sara head the line-up, and you can also expect DJ sets from the likes of Oxford Hustlers
Other performers taking to the stage include Nat Conway, Steve Grand and Peyton. The Party usually sells out but there’s still time to get yours here.
Mardi Gras Comedy Festival
February 28 - March 3
Comedians from around the world will descend on Sydney from February 28, starting with the Mardi Gras Comedy Gala hosted by Em Rusciano and Bob Downe at the Enmore Theatre.
Throughout the week leading up to the Parade, comedy shows will take place at various venues across the city. Don’t miss Joel Creasey and Rhys Nicholson as they join forces to perform at The Seymour Centre on March 3.
