The top travel trend for 2020

Here's the top travel trend that you will be adding to your bucket list.

Booking.com recently released some findings that revealed what one of the biggest travel trends is for Aussie adveturers.

The research found that almost half (44 per cent) of Aussie travellers plan to visit off-the-beaten-track destinations, specifically to reduce their impact on the environment.

Since travel is becoming more and more accessible, Aussies are definitely keeping sustainable travel in mind.

“Moving into 2020, we’re seeing more and more Australians choosing less populated destinations as they become more aware of the negative impact that travelling and overcrowding can have. Globally, we’re seeing a similar trend, with travellers wanting to play a part in reducing over-tourism.

"Looking further at our data, we can see Australians are excited by and keen to explore new, undiscovered destinations that are fresh and outside the box," Luke Wilson, Australia area manager at Booking.com said.

Booking.com also found that 55 per cent of Australian travellers want to help reduce over-tourism, 48 per cent agreed they would swap a holiday destination for a lesser known alternative in the name of lessening environmental impact, and almost three in five Australian travellers want to access an app or website that recommends destinations where an increase in tourism would have a positive impact on the local community.

So, will your next holiday be taken with the local environment in mind?
