Most of us dream of turning left instead of right when we step on a plane. While flying first class may be a far-flung fantasy, there's no harm in window shopping, right?!
Flying economy class can be cramped, noisy and you just never know who you're going to be sitting next to or in front of.
You have to be really lucky to score an upgrade to premium economy or business class, but the chances are even more minute when it comes to gaining access to the prestigious first class cabin. If you've never been, here's a look at what to expect behind the curtain of Emirates first class.
Started from Economy, now we're here...
There's no doubt about it, travelling first class and sitting at the back of the plane in the cheap seats are two vastly different experiences. "In First Class, passengers can unwind in their own enclosed private suites, relax and rejuvenate in the A380 show spa or enjoy the selection of premium wines, beers and cocktails in the airline’s exclusive Emirates Onboard A380 Lounge," says an Emirates spokesperson.
Before you fly
An added bonus of a first class ticket is visiting the lounge before you fly. Each lounge has a business centre with fast wifi and there's no fighting for a powerpoint to charge your devices. The complimentary bar is stocked with many different options and the food just isn't a buffet of snacks... you can expect a restaurant-quality meal. Delicious!
The private suites
You can expect to fly in the lap of luxury aboard an Emirates plane. "Emirates was recognised for being the first airline in history to install the world’s first private First Class suites, where passengers could have complete privacy and exclusivity when flying," says the spokesperson.
Enjoy massage-enabled leather seats which convert to a lie-down bed, an onboard shower and a food offering much like room-service at a hotel. The menu is carefully constructed by a team in world-class facilities, with suppliers to source ingredients that are fresh, local and of the highest quality. The personal illuminated vanities are a luxurious touch, too.
You won't need to fold yourself like an origami crane to get into a bathroom in the first class cabin. There are two fully-equipped bathrooms with shower cubicles and the most amazing amenities. We're talking Bvlgari perfumes and a range of cosmetics.
While you would want to stay awake to make use of all the amazing amenities, getting rest on board a first class flight is made even easier by Emirates. "We offer moisturising sleepsuits on long-haul overnight flights and chamomile roll-on sleep oil to ease into relaxation as part of our amenity kits," says the spokesperson. And to think us folk in economy are just happy with a small pillow and blanket!
