Top Winter Getaways

The weather around Australia is starting to get a little cooler so here are some beautiful tropical destinations to escape to during the Australian winter!

Luckily, Australia isn't far from some beautiful gems that can provide plenty of sunshine and warmth for the perfect winter escape. Here are our top five picks for beautiful places to head to in the coming months.

Bora Bora

Bora Bora, a part of Tahiti, is one of the world's most picturesque tropical paradises. Its romantic reputation makes it perfect for a getaway with that special someone - even more so when you're running away from winter!

Splash out on an overwater bungalow that treats you to a sumptuous experience with your accommodation right over the water. This provides magical views of the ocean and outstretching horizon, not to mention the emerald-green islands around you. Luxury is the name of the game here, so enjoy the indulgent facilities and spa complexes available.

Spend your rest of days snorkelling and discovering the array of marine life in the waters around you, or head out on a hike through the forest and mountain landscape. You might just stumble upon a beautiful hidden waterfall or cove.

New Caledonia

You don't have to travel all the way to Europe to get a taste of French summer. All you need to do is head to New Caledonia!

This nation is a special collectivity of France, so there are plenty of European influences to be found amongst the sandy shores and beautiful villages.

Head into a local cafe or restaurant and try out the exotic fare on offer, from tasty chocolate crepes to coconut and lime soaked fish! Hunt down trinkets and treasures in the local markets and enjoy the beautiful island way of life.

The Maldives

The island nation of Maldives is another perfect place for a winter escape.

Here too you can enjoy the experience of an overwater bungalow and gaze out at the beautiful view surrounding you when you wake up each morning.

Throw in some adventure with a diving trip out to the deep where you can discover all manner of undersea creatures, or stick to lazing on the shore with a good book in hand.

If you're eager to get off the beaten track, visit local villages and explore the local culture.

There's also nothing like a Maldivian sunset, so grab a blanket and pack a picnic for a beachside meal as the sun goes down.

The Cook Islands

The Cook Islands are a beautiful destination brimming with life, from cheerful song and dance to the dramatic and rhythmic beat of the drum.

Discover local life while surrounded by natural beauty - the perfect way to get over those winter blues!

The stunning island of Aitutaki is particularly worth visiting, with its picture perfect vast clear lagoon and pristine sandy beaches. One thing's for sure, you won't mind being stranded here for the duration of Australia's cooler months!

Pick your favourite destination and trade the rain and wind for a sun-drenched holiday and a balmy breeze - returning just in time for a gorgeous Aussie summer!

A little further afield is the island nation of Seychelles. This gem lies off the east African coast, north of Madagascar.

Known to treat its guests to plenty of luxury, the stunning island has even played host to royals including Prince William and Duchess Kate.

Enjoy the escape to warm weather and the island's signature roaring hospitality. Spend your days sailing, fishing, diving, swimming, playing on the beach - anything goes!

Stay as long as you can, as Seychelle's charming palm tree-lined beaches are hard to leave behind.
