Top 5 Tips for First Time Cruisers

If you’re about to embark on your first journey across the high seas there are a few valuable little pieces of advice to make the most of your holiday.

My own journey was aboard The Celebrity Solstice, and while I may have been spoilt by the modern luxury I definitely learnt a trick or two.

  1. Everyday a program is delivered to your room. Read it! It is the bible for everything that is going on that day, from dress code, the daily cocktail on offer, black jack tournaments or what’s on at the theater that day. There’s so much to do, and you’ll regret it the next day when someone is marveling at the magic show you missed.
  2. The average passenger can put on 1kg a day! Seriously, there is no way you can pass up the incredible food on offer from the talented team under Aussie Executive Chef Robert Sauer, so you need to make a choice. I say eat up and then make use of the incredible health facilities on board. The panoramic ocean views from the gym and state of the art equipment make working out a breeze. There are even yoga and boxing classes you can sign up for or you can hire a personal trainer if you’ve been extra indulgent.
  3. Find out what's unique to the ship your on and make the most of it. The Celebrity Solstice's shows come from the world's largest dance studio and should not be missed.
  4. Cruise Director Ben Powney recommends getting to know the crew. They are super friendly, have loads of great advice for making the most of your time and will help you with anything you want or need.
  5. Think ahead and be prepared. Take everything you may need with you. There are no pharmacies or corner stores you can pop into. I found that my increased cocktail consumption resulted in unforeseen heartburn for which I had no antacids.

Cruising is honesty one of the most relaxing holidays you can have, so be prepared and make the most of everything the exquisite ship has on offer.
