A new seating concept with an improved design to the middle seat, promises to make flying just that much more comfortable for passengers.
Hank Scott of Molon Labe Designs has designed the 'Side-Slip Seat', aimed at giving the middle seat a little more elbow room.
The design enables the aisle seat to slide over the middle seat, allowing for more room to move around the aisle when boarding.
The aisle more than doubles in size as the seat slides back over and locks in position.
Usually considered the worst seat when flying, the improved design would allow for an extra two inches as well as being staggered. By having the centre seat set lower and a few inches back, eating, typing and relaxing, will be that much more easier.
While this sounds promising, it's still an idea in theory. The 'Side-Slip Seat' is in the process of getting certified with the National Institute for Aviation Research.
