Known for it's great surf, this black sand beach on the west coast of Auckland is a must-see - just beware of unexpected waves crashing behind you while you get your photos.
La Cigale markets
Located in the suburb of Parnell, this French-inspired market is THE place to head to on the weekend for a melt-in-your-mouth smoked salmon tail, or a flaky pastry. A vairety of stalls offer local produce where you can taste the best of New Zealand from Cherry juice to Feijoa cake.
Arataki visitor centre
Just a 40-minute drive away from the CBD lies the sprawling Waitakere Rainforest. The hills that you can see form the look out at the visitor center are in fact remnants of ancient volcanoes.
Easy accessible by a well-worn path, Karekare Falls are just a 10-minute walk away from the road. Located near Karekare village and nestled in the Waitakere Ranges, this waterfall is a summer hotspot for locals to cool off.
View Auckland from 220 metres above street level. Standing at a total of 328 metres high, the Sky Tower is an iconic part of the Auckland city skyline. Take part in some more adventurous activities if you dare, such as the SkyJump or SkyWalk to get the adrenaline pumping.
