Terrifying glass-bottomed pool hangs 40 floors up

An infinity pool in a brand new, luxury Texas apartment block is the stuff of nightmares for anyone with a fear of heights.

Dubbed the 'Sky Pool', the glass-bottomed swimming pool sits 152 metres in the air and extends three metres beyond the side of the Market Square Tower building in downtown Houston.

And it certainly gives swimmers a dramatic (ie. frightening) view of the busy street below.

A video released by the building company on social media shows one brave soul venturing out onto the transparent platform on foot, which is apparently made of 8-inch flexiglass.

Units in Market Square Tower are currently available for lease, starting at around AUD $2,500 a month for a studio, or you can always go for the 3-bed penthouse suite for AUD $24,000 a month.

Other amenities in the building include a poker suite, indoor basketball court, virtual golf simulator and movie theatre.
