Plane Lands Incredibly Close to Tourists at World’s Scariest Runway

It’s known for its low flying planes and nail-biting landings, but if you ask us, this call was a little too close.

A tourist has captured the moment a passenger plane flew incredibly close to holiday makers as it attempted to land on the Caribbean island of St Maarten - home to the world’s scariest runway.

Princess Juliana International Airport has one of the shortest runways in the world, measuring at less than half the length of most international airports.

For pilots, it’s one of the trickiest landings to control and, to make matters worse, is located right next to one of the island’s most popular beaches.

While thousands of eager tourists flock to Maho Beach - located just outside the airport’s boundary - every day to watch the low-flying planes, this plane got particularly close.

Check out the nail-biting landing, below:

This isn’t the first time a plane has had a close call and we’re sure this won’t be the last.
