Fitzy & Wippa's Top Travel Tips

Aussie larrikins and Nova radio duo, Fitzy and Wippa, share some of their best travel tips and tales.

Fitzy and Wippa recently travelled to Changi airport to experience first-hand why it holds the title of the best airport in the world.

Here they share some of their top travel tips:

What 3 things do you never travel without?

Fitzy – I never travel without my laptop, my calculator watch (so I can calculate currency differences on-the-spot) and my passport.

Wippa – My best mate Macca, a lot of clean underpants – they’re crucial, and a Safari Pith helmet, just so people know that you’re out and about and ready to get active whatever your destination is.

What are your top tips for a first-time traveller?

Fitzy – Definitely get travel insurance. If you’re visiting a destination in Asia and likely to be riding on a scooter, make sure you practice before you head off - I learnt that the hard way!

Wippa – Never, ever pose with anyone dressed in a novelty outfit for a photo, it’s guaranteed to cost you a fortune, and be smart. Don’t forget your vaccinations!

What are your top tips for passing time at Changi Airport?

Wippa – Pace yourself! Work out where you want to go and use the Skytrain to get between the three terminals. It’s quick, easy and best of all, free.

Fitzy – Visit the Entertainment Deck! The free Xbox Kinect room lets you play a range of virtual sports- I could literally spend hours in there.

Wippa – Actually the fish spa is a must-do. Add a massage and a walk through the butterfly garden and you’ll forget you’re on a stopover. That’s the best thing about Changi Airport, there’s never a dull moment.

What is your favourite overseas destination?

Wippa – Anywhere in Italy.

Fitzy – New York for me. With a stopover at Changi Airport of course!

Why is a stopover at Changi Airport like no other?

Wippa – The service is second-to-none and for an airport, it’s surprisingly relaxing. How many airports are there where you can lay poolside on the rooftop??

Fitzy – For me, it’s the fact there is just so much to do. Changi Airport is like a world within itself, you’ll need more than one visit just to experience everything. We spent three days living at the airport and we’re still Changi Airport Virgins!
