6 unmissable cruise ship experiences

With the popularity of cruising continuing to rise, it’s not surprising that cruise ships are offering more and more once you get on board.

From indulging at award-winning spas to enjoying a spot of first-class dining, pretty much every ship has a major attraction that you can enjoy while out at sea.

Here are a few of our favourite picks to add to your wish list:

400 Gradi on P&O Pacific Explorer

Who thought you would get some of the best pizza ever in the middle of the ocean? Well, classic, authentic Italian dining can be found at this traditional Neapolitan on-board P&O. This delicious restaurant is from award-winning Melbourne chef Johnny Di Francesco – it’s your time to shine, foodies!

Learn on-board Seabourn

On select sailings, Seabourn Conversations is a featured program, which gives you access to knowledgeable scientists, scholars, naturalists and more. These experts can shed light on the history, ecology and culture of the destinations you visit on your cruise. All of this in-depth knowledge can be gleaned while taking in a formal talk or if you run into them on the ship or over a meal.

Carnival Cruise WaterWorks

If you want to get your heart racing, Carnival Cruise Line offers the largest collection of waterparks at sea.

Crowned the steepest and fastest waterslide at sea, the Green Thunder waterslide on board Carnival Spirit is a must-try.

Carnival Splendor is set to become the newest and largest ship home-ported in Australia from December 2019 and will feature an adrenaline-packed green and gold WaterWorks with two slides towering 50 metres above the waterline.

If the walk up to the start of the Green Thunder waterslide isn’t enough of a draw for daredevils, try out Carnival Splendor’s green thrill-slide. Building on Carnival’s reputation for jaw-dropping waterslides, this brand-new slide will measure at almost 40-metres-long and will begin with an impressive 11.3 metre free-fall drop as the capsule floor opens, followed by a slingshot curve, twisting and sliding guests into a giant swirling bowl.
