Where is it?: An hour and a half from Hobart, and a five-minute boat from the stunning Bruny Island.

Tell me more: From Hobart, head to the coastal town of Kettering and catch the ferry across to Bruny. There, Satellite Island’s keeper will be waiting to take you across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel to your home away from home. This is a truly unspoilt wilderness which only recently been opened to the public and it’s a \fabulous mix of bush, cliffs, pebble beaches and sunny coves. Satellite Island is a really secluded secret hideaway and all you have to do is decide if you want more fresh oysters straight from the sea or to dive for abalone or simply another swim. Who’s it for?: Families, eco-warriors, or just anyone wanting an island getaway for less than you’d think…
Tell me more: Yes, this is a private island eco-escape for a bargain price! Positioned in the Southern Great Barrier Reef’s group of Keppel Islands, Pumpkin is not glamorous but it is stunningly beautiful - and it’s all about relaxing on hammocks or swing chairs, or fishing or watching dolphins, turtles and whales in season. There are no restaurants shops here - at night you can cook up your freshly caught catch on barbecues and shuck oysters collected from nearby rocks. Accommodation is seven eco-cabins and bungalows (all powered by the wind and the sun) housing a total of 34 guests. Be warned, you have to bring all food and other supplies with you.

Who is it for?: It’s owned by Richard Branson so… well, you know. Hollywood stars. rock royalty and all that. But you can be amongst them if you are willing to pay the A-list price.
Tell me more: This island is beautiful - it’s even shaped like a heart - and it is true rock star heaven. It comes with three luxurious villas, each with two enormous bedrooms, an entry foyer featuring a waterfall and fishpond and luxurious carved volcanic boulder bathtubs.
