Winter Fashion Trends for 2012

As the temperature begins to drop, it’s time to update your wardrobe with some fabulous new winter warmers.

And this season, it’s all about chunky knits, glam silhouettes, faux fur, animal prints and pops of colour.

Experiment with different fabrics to create a texture overlaod – leather is hot as is faux fur. Pairing a faux fur vest with a pair of jeans and booties is ideal for a casual day look. When night hits, a lush faux fur shrug over a dress will glam up any outfit.

From boho to glam, 1960s and 70’s-inspired fashion is right on trend, and aside from fur, we’re also loving all the playful print dresses in bright colours with an emphasis on the waist. Lace is also still big this season.

One key styling trick for winter is to use layering.

Don’t wear big, bulky shapeless coats and keep layers fitted and snug. Start with a nice top, wrap a thin jumper or cardigan over that and then wear a jacket or statement coat as your outer layer.

For extra warmth add a scarf, a hat or maybe some knee length boots. Wearing tights and opaque stockings are a fabulous way to keep you looking stylish and extra toasty!

No winter wardrobe is complete without the perfect coat and this season, you can’t go wrong with a classic trench. Leather jackets and cropped capes are also back big time.

When it comes to footwear, this winter booties (think a cross between shoes and boots that hug below the ankle), ankle boots and knee-high boots are all hot.

So don't be left out in the cold - go bag yourself some of these essential winter warmers!
