Winona Ryder Says Abuse Claims Against Johnny Depp Are ‘Unimaginable’

Winona Ryder has spoken out in defence of her ex-boyfriend.

In an interview with Time magazine, the actress says that that claims of abuse against Johnny Depp by his estranged wife Amber Heard are 'unimaginable' and 'hard to picture'.

While she is quick to say she doesn’t know what went on between the pair, she does say she only knew Johnny as ‘loving and caring’ during their four year relationship.

“I wasn’t there. I don’t know what happened. I’m not calling anyone a liar,” Winona said of the allegations.

“I’m just saying, it’s difficult and upsetting for me to wrap my head around it.

“Look, it was a long time ago, but we were together for four years, and it was a big relationship for me. Imagine if someone you dated when you were — I was 17 when I met him — was accused of that. It’s just shocking. I have never seen him be violent toward a person before.”

The pair first got together in 1990 and dated for just five months before getting engaged.

“I can only speak from my own experience, which was wildly different than what is being said,” Winona says.

“He was never, never that way towards me. Never abusive at all towards me. I only know him as a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves.”

Winona isn’t the first to speak out in Johnny’s defence. His daughter Lily Rose and ex-patner of 14 years Vanessa Paradis have also publicly defended him.

“It’s just hard to picture. The only word I can come up with is unimaginable,” Winona continued.

“You know with certain people you hear something and go, “I can see that.” But this isn’t that.
“So anyway this is the first time I’ve said anything so I don’t know. I can only offer my own experience. It’s such a serious, horrible thing to be accused of.”

Amber has been given a temporary restraining order against Johnny after presenting the court with pictures of her abuse

Meanwhile, Johnny’s lawyers have denied the abuse claims, saying that Amber is trying to secure spousal support from the star.
