Why Meghan Markle's baby shower was the ultimate NYC girls trip

She may be the Duchess of Sussex, but Meghan Markle shows the world that she's still all about her girlfriends.

Ever since the announcement of her relationship with Prince Harry, the former Suits actress has been in the public eye as she has transitioned into the royal family. But as she expects her first child with her handsome husband, the new royal has thrown the ultimate girls trip. Here's why Meghan's baby shower was host to the biggest girl squad event we've seen.

It's NYC

Bright lights, yellow taxis, busy people - the city that never sleeps. This hustling and bustling metropolis is far away from the Duchess' life in England, offering an exciting escape.

Her squad is on point

She may not have had Camilla and Kate there, but by no means was Meghan missing out. Her fierce line-up of besties turned up just for her, and you may recognise some names. Serena Williams, international tennis legend and all-round icon, Amal Clooney, human rights barrister and possibly the chicest woman to have lived, and Abigail Spencer, an award-winning actress and Meghan's former co-star on Suits.

She booked a luxe hotel

The penthouse suite at The Mark Hotel, no less. While some have been taken aback over Meghan's the scale of Meghan's baby shower, it's a time for celebration! We are about to welcome a royal baby after all! And, since it's a chance to catch up with some of her nearest and dearest, she possibly wanted to make it extra special.

It's fun!

Being pretty well connected, Meghan could have had the shower anywhere - but she chose the Big Apple as most of her pals are based there and a chance to get back to her roots can never be a bad thing. Now Meghan and her inner circle have celebrated the impending birth, we can't wait to see the new royal!
