Who Wears The Pants?

Why wear the proverbial pants when you can have the real thing – in a variety of cuts and colours! Comfortable, versatile and so this season, trousers have taken over the runway in a big way. Here’s how they’re being done:

Which way: Harem
Why you’ll love them: Yes, we know we swore we’d never get into the ‘nappy’ pant trend but then they were introduced in lighter fabrics with a slightly leaner cut and, well, we just couldn’t resist. Not only do their drapes hide all manner of sins, but you can dress them up with a pair of killer heels and a cropped, tailored jacket, or keep it casual with a loose singlet and flat sandals. They’re also so ultra-comfy that once you try them you’ll find yourself almost begging to become one of the Sultan’s concubines.

Which way: Tapered
Why you’ll love them: Anything that makes our legs look longer and more slender and our stomachs flatter – as this oft-high-waisted cut definitely does - is enough to send us into a purchasing frenzy. But if you need another excuse, they’re also perfectly designed to show off this season’s hottest fashion buy – the statement shoe. So if you’re feeling guilty about spending on both, you can wear the two together more often, significantly reduce their cost-per-wear value and justify shopping more frequently! We’ll let you do the maths…

Which way: Jeggings
Why you’ll love them: We’re all familiar with the terms, ‘Brangelina’, ‘modcon’ and ‘facestalking’, and now it seems even the fashion pack is jumping on the word-hybrid bandwagon with its latest trend: ‘jeggings’. With the texture of leggings but the appearance of skin-tight jeans, these curve-controlling beauties are versatile enough to be worn under a dress or long top, or as pants in their own right. Beyonce and Kate Bosworth teamed theirs with glam heels, while Whitney Port rocked the look with trainers and a tee.
