Time to take off to Tahiti

Why Tahiti?

Tahiti’s 118 islands and atolls are full of dramatic wonders from volcanic scenery to endless spectacular lagoons and turquoise waters. Tahiti offers rest, a place to escape and relax, and a perfect location in which to bask in the warmth of the people you love. Boasting breathtaking scenery, including mountains and deep valleys, clear streams and high waterfalls, Tahiti’s most memorable feature is the green iridescence of Mother Nature's light that illuminates its islands.

Apart from the incredible surroundings of Tahiti, there are also a myriad of attractions, restaurants and culture to explore and experience. Papeete, meaning the “Water Basket” was once a gathering place where Tahitians came to fill their calabashes with fresh waters.

Now the invigorating islands boast:
• World-class resorts and spas
• Fine dining and unique restaurants as well as nightclubs
• Vibrant markets and boutiques.

Tahiti also offers a range of unique activities such as:
• Cruising
• Polynesian spas
• Searching for Tahitian cultured pearls
• Shark feeding
• Snorkelling and diving, and;
• A wide variety of on-island and island to island tours.

All of this ensures that brides, grooms and guests get the most out of a Tahitian destination wedding.

Destination weddings in Tahiti are now legally recognised in Australia

While Tahiti has long been considered one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations in the world and also a preferred location for couples, friends and families, destination weddings in Tahiti have, until now, not been recognised within Australia. Thankfully, Australian couples wishing to be married in French Polynesia will now have their marriage recognised in Australia; following French government approval for foreign marriages to be conducted legally in Tahiti and her islands.

Previously, a minimum minimum 30-day residence was required for marriages in Tahiti to be officially recognised and short-term visitors could only undergo a symbolic French Polynesian ceremony or a renewal of wedding vows. This criteria has now been dismissed under new legislations, ultimately allowing first time, short-term visitors to be married in a romantic Tahitian ceremony.

Take the stress out of getting married with an affordable Tahitian wedding package

With latest reports from Bride to Be magazine showing the cost of the average Australian wedding at around $49,000*, South Pacific destination weddings and honeymoons are becoming an increasingly popular choice that won’t break the bank.

Craig Gibbons, Marketing Manager of the South Pacific destination expert Coral Seas, says an overseas wedding can be a more cost effective option that is often less than an Australian wedding.

“We’re seeing a lot more couples choosing this alternative for their weddings as they can see their dollar stretch a lot further overseas than at home,” said Mr Gibbons.

“Other than the cost factor, the exclusivity, privacy, perfect weather, and beautiful locations are also reasons why brides and grooms are choosing Tahiti now more than ever,” commented Mr Gibbons.

With the stress and time it takes to organise a wedding in Australia it is no wonder why a South Pacific Wedding option has become so popular. A range of wedding packages are available, whether it’s the bride and groom eloping or an intimate group of friends and family.

Coral Seas, the South Pacific destination expert, has been offering a diverse range of travel options to Tahiti for over 15 years. “The dedicated wedding consultants at Coral Seas know everything about South Pacific destination weddings and honeymoons and can take care of all the details. Organised by experts, overseas nuptials make for an easy, stress-free and cost-efficient wedding and honeymoon,” Mr Gibbons said.
