The Most Unique Celebrity Baby Names of 2016

If celebs are name trend-setters, here's what we may be calling our kids in the coming years!

The names celebs bestow upon their children often have a surprising impact on name trends, thereafter.

This is why we felt it our duty to round-up some of the most unique monikers of 2016, so those with or without children can reflect on their baby (or, maybe pet) naming plans!

Here are some of the most offbeat celebrity baby names of the past year:

  • Chrissy Teigen and John Legend: Luna Simone Stephens

Little baby Luna came into the world in April this year, and she's been prominent part of her parents' social media lives ever since. While John was reportedly on the fence about their daughter's name being "too Hollywood", Chrissy told The Late Show she actually asked President Obama for his approval, and John followed suit!

  • Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling: Amada Lee Gosling

Eva and Ryan welcomed their second daughter, Amada, in April. The name is reportedly a family name, taken from Eva's grandmother. Oddly, the couple's first daughter, Esmeralda, has the same name as her middle name!

  • Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock: Remington Alexander Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson and her husband Brandon, welcomed their second child in August. While the couple's elder daughter, River Rose, received a more environmentally-themed named, Remington is actually a brand of gun!

  • Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher: Dimitri Portwood Kutcher

While Dimitri isn't a particularly unusual moniker - and is certainly more common than Wyatt, the name Mila and Ashton gave to their daughter - Portwood, on the other hand, is an interesting choice! PEOPLE magazine suggested the name was actually in honour of Ashton's stepfather, Mark Portwood.

  • Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green: Journey River Green

Journey is the third son of Megan and Brian, who also have boys Noah and Bodhi. Little Journey was born in August in LA, and his name definitely lives up those free-wheelin' California vibes.

  • Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis: Daisy Josephine Sudeikis

Daisy isn't the wildest name on this list, but it has been scarce in recent years! Although, we imagine the name will only rise in popularity in the coming years, thanks in part to these gorgeous parents.

  • Jamie and Jules Oliver: River Rocket Oliver

Jamie and Jules don't shy away from an out-there baby name! Born in August, their latest child, River Rocket, joins a long line of mystically-named children: Poppy Honey Rose, Daisy Boo Pamela, Petal Blossom Rainbow and Buddy Bear Maurice.

  • Guy Pearce and Carice Van Houten: Monte Pearce

Carice and Guy welcomed little Monte in August and their sweet choice of name throws back to an older generation, and we just know there's sure to be more popping up in the years to come. Like names Xavier and Oliver, Monte is destined to be the next cool hipster-grandparent name for boys.

  • Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian: Dream Renee Kardashian

Punters knew this couple were bound to choose a unique name for their first born. In hindsight, Dream was relatively tame compared to some of the other surprising Kardashian baby names - cough, Saint and North.
