Simon Cowell is very upset Zayn Malik has turned on the band that made him famous - and he's not holding back.
Zayn recently lashed out at the pop band, saying he was looking forward to making "real music" after going solo in March.
"There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band,” he said, according to The Mirror.
“If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f***, so they could use that version.”
Former X Factor UK judge, Simon Cowell, has now hit back, saying the band process was "very democratic" and that his comments were "rude".
“It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them. And to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff," he said.
"Life could have been a lot worse, right?"
Truer words have never been spoken.
One Direction announced they would go on a break as of the end of October this year, but are expected to return with more catchy pop hits in the future.
