Sia Sends Marriage Equality Advocate to Accept her ARIA Award

Sia took an exciting stand for marriage equality at the ARIA Awards.

Instead of collecting her award at the event, Sia sent marriage equality activist, Angie Greene, to collect her award for Best Female Artist.

Taking the stage in an Australian marriage equality t-shirt, Angie received roaring cheers upon taking the stage and announcing "Sia has asked me to accept this award on behalf of Australian marriage equality."

"This award is for every non-hetero and gender diverse person who can currently not marry the person that they love in this country. This is award is for our friends, our family, our work friends, all our mates..." Angie said before wiping away tears.

"The bottom line is, Australia, that no one's lives and the people that they love should be up for debate. You have the opportunity now not just to do a great thing, but to do the right thing."

Angie is the founder of  Stand Up Events, an organisation dedicated to fighting gender and sexual discrimination.
