This season, metallics are adding a little extra kick to your shoe selection.
Here's how to wear the five hottest styles this spring and summer!
If I never had to wear another pair of 'real' shoes in my life, I’d be happy. Strap a pair of trainers on me and I’m happy. But unfortunately, there are certain lines of dressing etiquette that the sneaker just can’t step over. The office, the event, the evening out….until now! A metallic trainer adds just enough glitz and a whole stack of glamour to any outfit, meaning that metallic kicks can now be worn comfortably to more dressy events. Well, that’s my theory anyway, and I’m sticking to it!

Even though we’re all heading towards summer holiday hiatus, the big trend is ‘back to school’ so the loafer is becoming the shoe du jour this season - even if you're off duty. Backless and platform styles hit all the right notes for day or night and do wonders to funk up and femininize the style and elongate the leg. This is a dazzling accent paired back with cropped denim or pleated skirts.
SHOP: Aldo Narcissa loafer, $83.97
SHOP: Wittner Bobby Sneakers Loafer in Rose Gold, $129.95
The Ankle Boot
Don’t go packing your ankle boots outfits away just yet. The warmer evenings are a gorgeous time to get out the floaty dresses and pair them back with a metallic ankle boot to add extra edge. The biggest trend this season is to go with a detail heel - as seen on the streets of fashion week in Milan, London and New York - to balance a beautiful maxi dress or cute jumpsuit.

Planning on dancing the night away at some fabulous Christmas soiree? Well, add your element of sparkle with a hot metallic heel. For day events, you can’t go past all white – such as wide-leg pants and a crisp t-shirt – or for evening, a black shift dress and coordinating glittery clutch is the perfect punch to lift any chic monochrome moment.
The Slide / Sandal
Resort dressing is having its moment in the sun, with embellished kaftans and sexy sarongs becoming the essential accessory for the beach or pool. The only shoe to slip into post sand jaunt has to be the metallic slide or sandal. You can go for a flip-flop style for super relaxed affairs by the sea or up the ante on the look and shop a slide that really steals the limelight poolside.
