Selena Gomez is unashamedly honest about her past relationship choices.
At some stage, former Disney stars the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, have had their fair share of ridicule for either choosing to wear a purity ring, or taking it off.
The jokes and ridicule didn't just stop at social media, with South Park even airing a few episodes specifically on the topic.
Despite receiving a fair dose of criticism, Selena stands by her decision to wear one at age 13, and then take it off a few years later in 2010 while dating fellow pop star Justin Bieber.
"I'm not embarrassed," Selena, 23, told The Sunday Times. "I'm also not embarrassed to say that the ring has come off. I got it when I was 13 and I respect so much what it represented, but it isn't for everyone."
Selena told the publication how she went about getting the purity ring. "I said, 'Dad, I want a promise ring. He went to the church and got it blessed."
The brunette beauty also opened up about her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber.
"The Internet wants to freeze this moment in time and constantly repeat it," she says. "It's difficult for people to separate us. I didn't think I was doing anything bad by falling in love [...] there's such an emphasis on people being the perfect thing and then destroying them because it's good press."
"The next relationship will be something dear to me. There is no way I will ever hide my life."
