Real Wedding: Skye Anastas & Joel Eaton

Who: Skye Anastas & Joel Eaton
Where: Padma Resort, Bali
Photos by: Richard Watson

Joel proposed to Skye in Bali the year before and they felt it would be special to go back for their wedding. "We found an Australian wedding planner based in Bali who recommended the Padma Resort to us and it was absolutely perfect," says Skye.

I wanted a dress that was sophisticated, elegant & showed my personality but wasn't too over the top for our beach front wedding. I had a vague idea of what I wanted but was not 100% sure. I knew the moment I tried this dress by Maggie Sottero that it was the ONE.

In lieu of table numbers we chose to name each table after a place we had travelled to together. On the name card we also added a photo of us in each location. We felt these were a personal touch to our reception and all our guests loved them.

The theme for our wedding was 'Beach Glam'. We wanted to keep everything simple and chose to stick with a predominately white colour scheme.

To help us plan our wedding, we used Bali Weddings International. The owner is an Australian lady and they specialise in assisting foreign couples getting married in Bali. They were extremely helpful leading up to the big day and assisted with every choice including the venue, wedding cake, flowers and the legal side of marrying in Bali.

We had a buffet menu and the food was incredible! We are still getting comments from our guests about how amazing the food was.

Our photographer Richard Watson is originally from the UK and now lives in Bali. We chose him for his huge amount of experience in Wedding photography. His website showed beautiful, natural, candid shots and that's what we were after.

I was so calm all day and then just before walking down the aisle the nerves set in big time. As soon as I saw Joel I just felt myself relax and I had this big smile on my face that didn't come off for the rest of the night!

My bridesmaids wore Paco citrus chiffon gowns which were rouched at the bust and then fell to the floor. They reflected the summery feel of the wedding.

I have always loved Van Morrison and after listening to countless songs together trying to find the right one, Someone Like You came on and instantly we both knew it was just perfect.

We had a two-tier square cake with yellow rose petals. The top tier was chocolate mud cake and the bottom tier was white chocolate mud.

We purchased hand fans for the ladies as we knew it would be hot. For the men we had beer coolers made which were a huge hit.

We stayed on in Bali for another 2 weeks after the wedding. We went to Nusa Lembongan and then spent the last 3 nights of our honeymoon at the resort where we got engaged.
