Queen turns 92, Pippa Middleton pregnant, Teen-glish revealed: The weekend news wrap

The Queen turns 92, Pippa Middleton is reportedly pregnant and the most popular words in the 'Teen-glish' language revealed - here's what you might have missed when you logged off this weekend.

The Queen celebrates 92nd birthday

The Queen celebrated her birthday on Saturday with a lively party held at the Royal Albert Hall, London. The night's musical performances came from Sir Tom Jones, Sting, Craig David, Kylie Minogue and Shaggy, amongst others.

With many members of the royal family in attendance - excluding the Duchess of Cambridge, who stayed at home ahead of the imminent arrival of her third child, and the Duke of Edinburgh, who is presumedly resting after undergoing hip surgery earlier this month - the Prince of Wales introduced the evening with a speech.

“Tonight we pay tribute to [the Queen's] devotion to duty, her steadfastness in times of uncertainty, and her vital role in uniting people from all walks of life through her enduring strength and humanity," Prince Charles said.

The Queen publicly endorsed Prince Charles as the next head of the Commonwealth last week at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

While the Queen's real birthday is April 21, she will celebrate her official birthday - as she does each year - on the second Saturday of June.

'Savage', 'salty', 'dude': Your teens' favourite words revealed

To celebrate English Language Day on April 23, a survey from Facebook Messenger and YouGov Galaxy has revealed the most popular words used amongst Australian teenagers.

According to the survey, the five favourite Teen-glish words are 'dude', 'K' (short for OK), 'salty' (used to describe someone who may seem rude or bitter), 'LOL' and 'savage' (meaning crazy or careless). Other words proving popular in teenagers' vocabularies are 'extra' and 'queen/yass queen'.

If you're looking to impress your child by trying to speak their language, avoid using 'YOLO', 'dab/dabbing' (a dance move), 'bae' or 'sup' - these are amongst the bottom five slang words teens say should belong in the past.
