One Direction 'disbanding' to take 12 month break

One Direction fans all over the world are heartbroken today after news the boys will take a break in 2016.

The Sun reports the band, including Louis Tomlinson, 23, Liam Payne, 21, Harry Styles, 21, and Niall Horan, 21, will take an extended break for at least 12 months and won’t tour their fifth album.

A source told the paper that the boys will now be focusing on their solo careers. Despite taking time out, the band have not split up and will regroup to release new material following the 12 month hiatus.

The decision was apparently made following crunch talks in London, however there is not yet an official statement from the band’s representatives.

"The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband,” a source told the paper.

"They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision."

The news comes after Zayn Malik quit the band in March this year and as Louis prepares to welcome his first child with stylist Briana Jungwirth in early 2016.

One Direction fans have already sent Twitter into a meltdown over the news.
