Kim Kardashian’s 6 Best Beauty Tips

Kim Kardashian has bestowed a million soundbites on society, but the most interesting have nothing to do with Kanye or couture, but cosmetics! Here are 6 of the best beauty lessons we’ve learnt from the ultimate makeup mannequin, Kim Kardashian-West.

What would the Internet, weekly mags, social media feeds and water-cooler conversations be without her? Here are 6 of Kim Kardashian's best beauty tips.

1. Don't wash your hair every day

Kim’s hair is the stuff of legend, no more so than with her recent flirtation with peroxide. But whatever the hue, as a general rule Kim washes her hair only every fifth day. Here's why: On “day one” – generally one where she has an appearance, shoot or general paparazzi moment – she has a blow-dry, “then we go into a messier vibe the next day, and then we flat iron it and do a really sleek look on day three since that requires a little oil in the hair,” she has said in a recent interview. You will be able to pick day four for Kim as this is when hair is slicked back into a pony tail and day five can produce a high bun (post-shampoo and conditioning session!)

2. Use makeup mindfully

Kim doesn’t apply product willy-nilly, but instead, takes great care in making conscious decisions about what she puts on her face, she has said. “I’m always researching different products, and I always try so many different things," Kim has revealed in an online interview. "I don’t just stick to one face wash or moisturiser. I genuinely love the process of getting my hair and makeup done. Even beyond that, I just love to take care of my skin.”

3. No-fuss, no-mess

Always apply eye makeup last. This is one of Kim's fool-proof tips for flawless makeup. Here's how it works: once you've applied coverage and lip colour, sweep some translucent powder under the eye and proceed with eye makeup and lash love. That way, any eye shadow or mascara pigment that falls from the lids can be swept off with a large makeup brush along with the translucent powder. Voila!

4. Maintain brows more-than-monthly

Of Armenian-American heritage, Kim's dark features are her beauty signature, particularly her brows. But her arch wasn't always so manicured, she admits, opting to pluck them herself for years before entrusting Anastasia Soare, the undisputed Brow Queen of Beverly Hills to them. Anastasia now tends to Kim's brows every three weeks with a bespoke wax and tweeze. Any incidental strays are then easily eliminated in-between visits without any loss of the essential shape.

5. Cleansing Is crucial

"My most essential product has got to be Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes," Kardashian has said, adding that she travels with them at all times and it’s the only way she will take her makeup off. This proves another clever tip for those hoping to emulate her complexion as when you wear makeup to bed, you also wear the days pollution, grit, grime and oil with it. That is one hot mess right there you don’t want to settle into your skin for too long, so having cleansing wipes close by at all times eliminates this cosmetic quandry.

6. Pack a file

Kim is notoriously pedantic about her manicures and pedicures, and always carries a nail file no matter what time zone she's travelling within! "My nails have to be perfectly square," she has reportedly said. "I carry a file with me everywhere I go." This is a good tip well-kept nails are king when it comes to first impressions. If you are an avid filer a-la Kim, be sure not to overdo it as too much filing can actually weaken the nail and cause breakage. Call on your emery board only for snags and split nails, but otherwise keep it to a weekly file and nourish nail beds daily using a drop of rosehip or olive oil.

There not bad beauty tips I must say. I totally agree with her on the cleansing regime and keeping the brows maintained more than once a month.
