Oh Yeezy, you just love a little controversy, don’t you?!
Notoriously preachy hip hop artist, Kanye West, has reached peak controversy overnight after releasing his ‘Famous’ video clip, which features a string of naked celebrity sculptures in bed with the singer.
The video, which premiered on music streaming platform, Tidal, conveys a biblical collection of 12 celebrity sculptures in bed with Kanye, including Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Donald Trump, Caitlyn Jenner, Chris Brown, George W. Bush, Anna Wintour, Bill Crosby, Amber Rose, Ray J and Rihanna.
Thus far, not one celebrity featured in the clip has commented. Kanye Tweeted over the weekend, “Can somebody sue me already, I’ll wait.” However, the Tweet has since been deleted.
Kanye, 39, recently spoke to Vanity Fair about the concept behind the provocative clip saying, “It’s not in support or anti any of [the people in the video], it’s a comment on fame.”
The clip, which was filmed over three months, had a number of collaborators including visual artist Matthew Barney, who is renowned for his sculptural installations. Kanye told Vanity Fair: “Matthew is my Jesus.” There was initial confusion as to whether the people in the clip were extremely spot on doppelgangers or the celebrities themselves.
Amidst all the confusion and controversy, one thing’s for sure – this won’t be the last we hear of it. Watch a snippet of the clip below. Warning - NSFW.
