Jim Carrey 'shocked and saddened' after girlfriend's death

Jim Carrey has been left saddened by the death of his girlfriend Cathriona White, who had dated the actor on and off since 2012.

The 30-year-old was found dead at her home in Los Angeles on Monday following an apparent suicide. However, Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said an official cause of death won’t be determined until an autopsy is conducted,

"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," Jim said in a statement.

“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.

“My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”

Cathriona, 30, worked in beauty industry as a stylist on several high-profile sets and shoots and had worked with David Hasselhoff as well as Divergent star Lyndie Greenwood.

The couple reportedly broke up on September 24. On the day of the split, Cathriona shared a troubling message on Twitter: “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”

Jim has remembered his 'delicate Irish flower' on his own Twitter account, by posting a series of photographs taken by Cathriona.
