Follow these top tips to help you navigate your way around end of season sales.
You probably feel like winter just hit when you walk out of your front door, but notice that retailers are already clearing out their warm and woolies in time for spring trends to hit their shelves.
This is the prime time to bag a bargain, but be smart, you don’t want to end up with a wardrobe of obvious last season trends and items you may not ever wear more than once.
Make a List
Make a list of things you need or don’t have. This way you will avoid feeling overwhelmed as well as maxing out your credit card with items you simply don’t need because they are discounted. Try not to buy on impulse. Although, if that beautiful pair of designer shoes you have been lusting over for the past three months are discounted, feel free to add these to your cart.
Go for Classics
If it’s designer you are after, hit the sales early, as they are the first to sell out quickly. My biggest recommendation with designer sales, unless you have a fortune to spend, is to avoid on-trend pieces and go for something more tran-seasonal as well as a chic classic, which will be timeless.
Check Before You Buy
Don’t forget to check each item thoroughly before you purchase. Too often you can find that you’ve gone home with a garment that has been reduced because of an imperfection. This can become a real inconvenience when you get excited about wearing it that day/night and most retailers don’t return sale items.
Invest in Lingerie
Sales are a great time to invest in lingerie – which is usually timeless. What you wear underneath affects how you feel on top! Keep it fresh and sexy.
