British celebrity stylist and host of How To Look Good Naked, Gok Wan, has hosted hundreds of shoppers at Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall for Westfield’s Body Shape Challenge.
The event was held to celebrate the launch of the Westfield Body Shape Calculator and to encourage women to have their body shape diagnosed following Westfield’s research which revealed 93 per cent of Australian women were not confident the clothes they buy suit their shape.
It was a case of the brave and the bold as five daring women, each representing a different body type, led the charge by sporting swimwear in front of the crowd to show off their silhouettes and encouraged shoppers to have their own shapes revealed.
Gok was accompanied by the Westfield Stylists who took measurements of participants’ busts, hips and waists and plugged them into the new tool on westfield.com.au to help determine which of the five body shapes each woman was - a Pear, Apple, Column, Hourglass or Inverted Triangle.
Westfield Stylist Trish Murray said, “The new Westfield Body Shape Calculator will be invaluable to Australian women as it provides instant access to style advice from the Westfield Stylists for your body shape and offers on-trend Summer fashion suggestions which are updated weekly.”
Gok, who will headline his second Westfield Style Tour from October 6 - 16, said he was impressed with the enthusiasm shown by Australian women to discover their true body shape.
“Understanding your body shape is the first and most important step to style. Too many ladies hide their best assets because they don’t know the basics of understanding their shape and flaunting what they’ve got,” Gok said.
“The Body Shape Calculator makes it quick and easy to determine your shape, and dress to impress. Get calculating!”
As part of the Westfield Style Tour, Gok and the Westfield Stylists will visit 10 Westfield centres across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, the ACT and Victoria to show shoppers how to translate trends into everyday looks for their shape.
Key Westfield Body Shape Survey Findings are:
- 93 per cent of Australian women are not confident that the clothes they buy suits their body shape
- Only 8 per cent of women have undergone a professional body shape assessment
- One third of Australians have 10 or more items of clothing in their wardrobe they have never worn
- Australian women ranked swimwear as the hardest item to buy for their body shape followed by summer dresses, shorts and sleeveless tops
