What colour eyeliners suit what colour eyes?
“These colours will make your eye colour "pop"! Purple/Plum - Green eyes. Brown/Bronze/Gold – Blue. Dark/Olive Greens and Navy/Electric Blue - Brown eyes.
Is liquid or pencil eyeliner 'in' at the moment?
“A classic liquid line never goes out of style and a smudged out eyeliner is the new way to easily create a smokey eye!”
Should you rim the top and bottom of your lids for eyes that pop?
“Lining the inner rims of your eyes is essential to help your eye make-up 'pop'! It is also a great way to look 'done' without having to fuss around with any eye shadows! A great trick is to line the bottom waterline heavily with a Kohl pencil (MAC Smoulder Eye Kohl, $32) and then squeeze your eyes shut, this will transfer the black to the top waterline super quick!”
How long should you keep an eyeliner before it needs replacing?
“It all depends on the type of eyeliner you have. Each time you open a jar or bottle of liquid/cream eyeliner, air gets in which can dry it out. If you replace the cap or lid properly you should have your liner for approximately a year. A pencil you can keep for a little bit longer because you can just sharpen the tip but I wouldn't have it longer than two years.”
Can you still wear eyeliner if you have small eyes?
“Eyeliner will simply give definition to your eyes whether they are small or large - anyone can wear it! If you are concerned about your eyes looking small, keep your liner soft and smudgy.”
What can you do if eyeliner irritates your eyes?
“Maybe try using your favourite eyeshadow as an eyeliner instead - just change the brush you use! I love to use a small angle brush (MAC Brush #266 -$39) to line the eyes with an eyeshadow (MAC Parfait Amour $32) is a fun purple! Shadow can be less irritating, easy to apply and softer in its look!”
Are "wings" still in?
“I think a classic winged out eyeliner (a-la Audrey Hepburn) is timeless.
It brings an understated elegance to your look. For example - wear with a red lip for a punchy night time look or team it with a peachy nude gloss for a pretty day time look. Super slick Liquid Liner in On the Hunt (true black) or Marked for Glamour (mid tone grey with soft pearl) ($30) from our Fabulous Felines collection would be perfect for creating this look.”
How can you get a great "extreme eyeliner" look without verging on gothic?
“To avoid looking overdone or gothic when creating a fun "extreme" eyeliner look - tone down the rest of your make-up! By keeping your skin sheer and creamy (Mineralize Satin Finish Foundation $48), cheeks subtly highlighted (Hush Cream Colour Base $35) and lips nude (Boy Bait Cremesheen Glass $43) you can explore some of the adventurous eyeliner looks seen on the International Catwalks (see attached image) without looking like you fell out of an Alice Cooper video!”
